Deuteronomy 1:5-8
On this side of the Jordan in the land of Moab, Moses began to explain this law, saying, “The Lord our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying: ‘You have dwelt long enough at this mountain Turn and take your journey, and go to the mountains of the Amorites, to all the neighboring places in the plain, [4] in the mountains and in the lowland, in the South and on the seacoast, to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the River Euphrates(8)  See, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which the Lord swore to your fathers–to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob–to give to them and their descendants after them.’

Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (NIV)
28 If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. 2 All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God:

God wanted to see the intensity of His people’s passion to obey Him.

Obedience – being in agreement (harmony and union) with and submission to another’s authority and rules

Obedience is a result of our faith in God!

Hebrew 11:8
(8)  Abraham had faith and obeyed God. He was told to go to the land that God had said would be his, and he left for a country he had never seen.

1 Samuel 15:22 (NIV)
22 But Samuel replied:
“Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
as much as in obeying the Lord?

To obey is better than sacrifice,
and to heed is better than the fat of rams.

What causes Saul to Disobey God?

1. Fear of Man/ He pleases Man

1 Samuel 15:24 (NIV)
Then Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned. I violated the Lord’s command and your instructions. I was afraid of the men and so I gave in to them.

2. He Desires the Praises of Man

God wanted His people to come to a New Experience.

When a person is satisfied with what he already is or have, then there is no more room for growth or advancement

The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; (Psa 92:12)

Don’t just go through life; GROW through life.

God wanted to see His people Reach their Destiny

Process of Character

Until you can rule your own life and spirit, you won’t become a conqueror in the world

Proverbs 16:32 (KJV)
32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

Jeremiah 31:3
“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.”

Ephesians 3:19
“To know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

Process of Faith

Psalm 84:11 (KJV)
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Ephesians 2:4-6 (ESV)
4 But[a] God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
